How's Your Health?

Are you feeling down? Has the past few weeks been a bit more miserable than the weeks before and you can't put your finger on why? You're a Christian and study bringing everything to the Lord. This isn't how your relationship has developed in the past.

Jeremiah in the old testament had that problem. He prayed to the Lord in Jeremiah 15 that he was filled with joy when he was filled with the words God gave him to speak to the people, but now he was hurting, depressed. God had an answer for him that was surprising.

Jeremiah prayed to the Lord, "Why is my pain unending and my wound grievous and incurable?  You are to me like a deceptive brook, like a spring that fails. Therefore this is what the Lord says:  “If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman.  Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them." Jeremiah 15:18-19

God told Jeremiah that he would have to change and get back on the same page with Him if he wanted to continue his ministry as God's spokesman and feel better. That’s kind of surprising for someone that has been working so closely with God all of his life. That challenges us to be watch carefully and evaluate more than our health when we are feeling miserable. How is your spiritual health?

You're invited to worship and study with us Sunday at 10:30 am. We meet 2 blocks south of the railroad tracks on Fannin street (209 Fannin).

How Does God Get YOUR Attention?

God went out of His way to get the attention of His chosen people in Exodus 7-11. He made sure they knew of His power and might using the ten signs as He led them out of Egypt. He always gave them warnings and directions  to teach them when they strayed through kings and prophets in the Old Testament.

How does God get your attention?

In Exodus, it was Moses and Aaron. Some listened and some didn't listen. There were consequences for those who didn't listen and rewards for those who listened. In the New Testament and for us, He gave His Son as the perfect innocent sacrifice for our sin.

How is that working out for the children of Israel? Find out Sunday mornings at 10:30 in Putnam church of Christ just 2 blocks south of the railroad tracks at 209 Fannin Street. Does God have your attention now? Come this Sunday.

What does God's Word Mean To You?

When was the last time you found pleasure in the Word of God? How long has it been since you looked in the Bible to find out more about who God is and what He expects of you as His child?

Jeremiah was the prophet of God who was trying to get God's message across to His stubborn stiff-necked people. They were paying attention to idols and false prophets instead of the Lord.

This is what Lord Almighty says:
"To whom can I speak and give warning?  Who will listen to me?  Their ears are closed  so they cannot hear.  The word of the Lord  is offensive to them;  they find no pleasure in it."  --Jeremiah 6:10

How sad it was that the Lord was warning over and over they were getting off track, yet no one was listening.

Do you find meaning, answers, and pleasure in The Bible where we learn about God? If you are, keep going. If not, start today and keep going? Learn about God and His relationship with people.

Prayers and Thoughts

Today we remember 9/11/01.

Our prayers for strength, courage, and comfort go up for those who are still working through the loss, health issues, and post traumatic stress that came with the attack that day. We also pray for our service men and women and their families who have gone to war since.

Another critical need in our area is for consistent rain. The cracks in the ground continue to deepen and as someone has said, we continue to mow dirt. We pray for rain in eastern Callahan county.

Have you read the Word of the Lord today?

Feel free to 'share' our devotionals and 'like' our pages here and on facebook.

Injustice and Truth

Do you see injustice in the world today?

Some people call it evil. Some people would like to fight wars over injustice. Whatever you call it or want to do about it, injustice is wrong. God talks about it in His Word.

"Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth." - 1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV

We find the truth in God's Word. We're seeking to know God better by studying His relationship with the children of Israel, Moses, and Aaron at 10:30 am this Sunday.

What happens when His people don't live up to their part of their relationship with Him?

YOU'RE INVITED! We're meeting 2 blocks south of the railroad tracks on Fannin Street in Putnam.

Summer's End and Grumpy

The day was stressful. The traffic was heavy and it slowed to a crawl. All a wanted to do was to be home! When you hit the door after that day, are you tired, stressed. and grumpy?

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." - 1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV

Patience is when I don't complain, get annoyed, lash out, or anything else the devil may have in mind when I am confronted with a stress. I endure and help to become a blessing to the people in my life with tenderness instead of someone people have to be careful what they do and say around.

I set myself up in advance on the way home how I will react to whatever will come up. Try it. Pray about it!

What possibilities does God have for you to be a blessing in patience and kindness today? Decide ahead of time that when you have times like these that you won't give away your peace and take it out on the ones you love.  Will you decide today?

Good for you!

You are invited to worship with us 10:30 Sunday morning. We are 2 blocks south of the railroad tracks on Fannin Street in Putnam.
